Case study · Raven Ink
Building an offline-first writing platform for classrooms where the internet can't be counted on.
Raven Ink brings structured writing and critical thinking instruction to rural and underserved classrooms, including communities in Southeast Alaska. Envazia built the platform end to end: a teacher web app, a mobile student app for iOS and Android, and an offline-first architecture that keeps lessons running when the connection drops.

The challenge
Raven Ink delivers the Guthridge Writing System, a structured writing methodology with a 47-year history, to K-12 classrooms and homeschool families. Its founder teaches writing and critical thinking to underserved communities in Southeast Alaska.
Most education software assumes the internet always works. In the rural classrooms Raven Ink serves, it often does not: many students cannot afford a connection, or live outside any service area. A conventional online-only platform would have shut out the exact students the program exists to reach, and left them to work through writing tasks without enough structure.
What we built
Envazia designed and built Raven Ink as one connected product: a teacher web app that runs in desktop, laptop, and tablet browsers, and a mobile-first student app for iOS and Android.
The core engineering decision was offline-first architecture. Lesson materials, student drafts, and submissions are stored locally on the device, drafts autosave as students write, and submissions queue up when there is no connection. When the connection returns, everything syncs automatically, so no work is lost and no lesson is interrupted.
On top of that foundation, Envazia built the instruction workflow itself: a structured lesson library based on the Guthridge Writing System, a teacher-led Live Session mode that paces a class step by step, and a single flow that carries a student from lesson to draft to feedback to revision.
The result
Raven Ink is live at ravenink.io, with teacher and student apps that keep working with or without internet access.
Raven Ink's 2026 pilot program brings the platform into low-connectivity and underserved classrooms, measuring lesson continuity, offline reliability, and writing skill growth under real school conditions.
The founder rated Envazia 5 out of 5 in a verified G2 review, highlighting the team's expertise, professionalism, and collaboration.
“I find the friendly expertise of Envazia Technologies the most valuable. I also like their professionalism and how we work together to achieve great things. I appreciate how they are helping me teach writing and critical thinking skills to underserved populations in Southeast Alaska and developing technology that works offline for those who cannot afford the Internet or are not in a service area.”
